Waterproofs for Schools

This may not be the busiest time of year for schools waterproofs but we are gearing up for the Autumn, ordering new stock and planning for the busy months ahead.

All-in-one waterproof suits are always popular waterproofs for schools such as the Togz Rainsuit and the new Rascal waterproof splash suit by Target Dry. The Keela Waterbug is another good choice in waterproof outerwear for kids.

We offer discounts on bulk orders and specialise in sourcing products to your needs. We sell babies and toddler sizes through to teens and adults. Childrens Waterproof Rain Suits

Since our beginings, childrens all-in-one waterproof rainsuits have been best sellers here at Adventure Togs. We started with the Jumbo Suit and Keela Waterbug, both lightweight childrens waterproofs. Over time we have introduced the Bubbles Suit, by Target Dry, Togz all-in-one waterproof suit and just recently, the Baby Buff from Buffalo Systems.

 

The benefits of an all-in-one waterproof for younger children is simply that there are no gaps for water to get in. Elasticated cuffs and ankles, full body zips, hoods and taped seams means there is no way those rain drops can seep in. Lightweight pacable rain suits can be stowed away in the corner of your rucksac and the more robust breathable Togz Rainwear can be comfortably worn for extended periods of outdoor play. Also, no gap at the waistline means no draughts!

Teachers seem to prefer the all-in-one suits for outdoor play at school as a one piece is quicker and often easier for a child to put on themselves than separates. They take up less storage room and of course an all-in-one is always cheaper than separate waterproof trousers and jacket.

New Waterproof Clothing for Onkthank Nursery School Children

We were so pleased to be asked to kit out the children of Onkthank Nursery School in East Ayrshire.

As they spend more of their time learning outdoors, they were looking for some robust waterproof all-in-one suits and fun wellington boots and umbrellas.

The introduction of the Foundation Stage (Foundation Phase in Wales) has meant many schools are looking to purchase waterproofs in large quantities. Adventure Togs always allows a discount to schools purchasing in bulk e.g. All-in-one waterproof suits from £13, separates from £15 with free P&P.

Healthy Schools Awards

I was recently invited to both the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea Healthy Schools Awards in order to promote our schools waterproofs range. There was a great deal of interest from healthy schools coordinators and head teachers in our range of outdoor clothing. The Bugzz rain ponchos drew a great deal of attention, as modelled by Helen Crocombe from Evolve Sport . As well as foundation stage, there was much interest from teachers of older children, with some schools becoming Forest Schools or even adopting parcels of land in which they planning a woodland garden. It was enlightening to see the range of sports activities children take part in at school these days with many putting on exercise and dance displays, and to hear how healthy eating is encouraged using awards for fruit eating etc.

Foundation Phase Delayed

I was really sad to hear the announcement yesterday that the implementation of the Foundation Phase early years learning scheme will be delayed due to lack of funding. Welsh Education Minister, Jane Hutt met with teaching unions and LEA's and it seems all are waiting for more cash (from somewhere?).

The Foundation Phase places greater emphasis on learning through play for the 3-7 year age group, particularly outdoors. Play is so important to children's learning and development, the thought of learning through outdoor play is much more appealing than a boring old classroom! Fingers crossed for more funding!

Foundation Stage Waterproofs

We regularly have enquiries from nurseries and primary schools about waterproofs for the Foundation Stage (Foundation Phase in Wales). As the Foundation Stage places a strong emphasis on learning through outdoor play, many schools are looking for fun ways to keep their pupils clean and dry.

The most popular waterproof for this age range is undoubtedly the Bodge the Badger Jumbo Suit which is part of the Outdoor Scene core range of children's waterproofs and continues to be a best seller year after year. Easy to put on and off by the kids, lightweight enough for ease of movement during play and waterproof enough to sit in puddles! It comes in red, navy, royal and pink in sizes 1-2 to 7-8 years.

We always recommend that schools purchase one colour for each size of suit, so the staff and children can easily identify sizes. Some schools prefer to stick to one colour however, to prevent arguments!

The 2 piece suits, either Bodge the Badger Splash Trousers and Splash Jackets or GTI Andes Trousers and Kobe Jacket prove more popular with older children. Equally as waterproof as the Jumbo suits, we either sell them as separates or complete suits.

Another option, the one children seem to fall in love with, is the Bugzz Ponchos. These are not strictly waterproof but they are showerproof and offer good protection (particularly if worn with over-trousers) and come in a fun range of designs. They have been really popular for nursery and special needs children. The seams are sealed and once popped up under the arms, they will not blow up with the wind!

We always send out samples for you to try on the children, so you do not make any mistakes with sizing and have our account details set up with a number of LEA's.
